Plenty of sellers already use Claude to draft bullet points, answer buyer messages or reason through an exported report. The ceiling arrives quickly: Claude cannot see your seller account. Every analysis starts with a CSV you pasted in by hand, and the numbers are stale by the time you finish copying them. Claude for Amazon sellers becomes genuinely useful when it can read data directly from Seller Central and Amazon Ads. This guide covers how the connection works, what to check before you give any tool access, and 10 prompts you can use on day one.
The problem: Claude reasons well, but it works blind
Without a connection, the usual loop looks like this: open Seller Central, export the orders report, open the Ads console, download the search term report, paste it all into a chat and ask for analysis. It works once. The following week you start from scratch, because Claude does not retain your data and the files have changed.
That creates three concrete limits:
- incomplete data: the right answer often sits in the join between two sources you did not export, such as FBA inventory and ad spend on the same SKU;
- stale data: Monday's report knows nothing about Thursday;
- no action: even when Claude tells you what to change, you still have to go and do it by hand.
How Claude connects to Amazon: MCP
Claude connects to external tools through MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard for connectors. An MCP connector exposes a set of tools to Claude, such as "read orders", "read FBA inventory" or "prepare a price change", and Claude picks the right one based on your question.
Before you connect any connector to your seller account, check four things. They apply to every tool on the market, not just ours:
- Official Amazon APIs: SP-API for Seller Central and the Amazon Ads API. No scraping, no browser automation, no shared logins.
- OAuth authorization: you grant access through Amazon's standard consent flow. You never hand over a password, and you can revoke access at any time.
- Approval on writes: if the tool can change prices, inventory or bids, it must show you what will change and wait for your OK.
- Clear scope: you should always know which seller account and which marketplace a request is running against.
Connecting Claude to Amazon with Vendooly: five minutes
Vendooly is an MCP connector that links Claude (and ChatGPT) to your seller account through official Amazon APIs. The steps:
- Create a Vendooly account at vendooly.com/signup.html, with email or Google.
- Connect Seller Central: in Marketplaces, pick the region and authorize via OAuth. One consent covers the marketplaces in that region. Guide: Connect Seller Central.
- Connect Amazon Ads (optional, recommended): it is a separate authorization. Guide: Connect Amazon Ads.
- Add the connector in Claude: on claude.ai or the desktop app, go to Settings → Connectors → "Add custom connector", name it Vendooly and paste
https://mcp.vendooly.com/mcp. - Authorize: click Connect, sign in to Vendooly and pick your organization. You only do this once.
You need a Claude plan that supports custom connectors. Menu labels change over time; if something does not match, see connection troubleshooting and the connect Claude to Amazon page.
The rule that keeps it safe: Claude prepares, you approve
Once connected, Claude can read your catalog, orders, inventory, Buy Box status, account health and advertising data. When you ask it to change something (prices, stock, listings, bids, budgets, campaign status), it prepares the change, shows a before → after preview and executes only after your explicit confirmation. Vendooly is not another AI: it is the action layer that gives Claude access to Amazon. Details are in the action approvals guide.

One tip: when you only want analysis, say so ("do not change anything"). Nothing is written without confirmation anyway, but it keeps the conversation clean.
What to do this week
For seven days, every morning, ask Claude one question about your seller account instead of opening three reports. Start with the prompts above. Inside the app there are another 27 ready-made prompts across 7 areas: 15 read-only analyses and 12 operational prompts that prepare a change for your approval. Our beta testers report saving 5 to 10 hours a week on operations, time that comes from no longer exporting and joining data by hand.
The 14-day free trial includes the full Seller + Ads plan, and Vendooly stays free under €2,000 of Amazon revenue per 30 days. Sign up at vendooly.com/signup.html and start with the wiki.
