Anyone who has managed Amazon campaigns for a few years has a ritual: download the search term report, open it in Excel, filter it, and lately paste it into ChatGPT to help make sense of it. It works, but it is slow and it stops at analysis. When you connect Amazon Ads to ChatGPT, the workflow changes: ChatGPT reads campaigns, keywords and performance directly, joins them with inventory and Buy Box data from your seller account, and prepares changes that you then approve. This guide covers the two possible routes, what to check before choosing one, and the steps to connect in a few minutes.
The problem: the ads report on its own is not enough
Pasting reports into ChatGPT has three limits every PPC manager knows:
- the files are heavy: a 30-day search term report can run to thousands of rows, and uploading it every week eats time;
- there is no product context: the ads report does not know whether the ASIN was out of stock or had lost the Buy Box. A keyword that "does not convert" often points at a product that could not convert;
- action is still manual: ChatGPT tells you to lower bids on these 12 keywords, and then you do it one by one in the console.
Two ways to connect Amazon Ads to ChatGPT
1. Export and upload
This is the free, immediate route: download reports from the Amazon Ads console (campaigns, targeting, search terms) and upload them to ChatGPT. It is fine for a one-off analysis. It does not work as a routine, because you start over every week and the data never talks to Seller Central.
2. An MCP connector on official APIs
ChatGPT supports MCP (Model Context Protocol) connectors: external tools the AI can call when needed. An Amazon Ads connector reads data through the official Amazon Ads API and, if it is built for it, can also prepare changes to bids, budgets and campaign status.
Before picking a connector, check:
- official APIs and OAuth: you authorize through Amazon's standard flow, no shared passwords, revocable at any time;
- which ad types it covers: Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display;
- read-only or read and write: many connectors only read. If one writes, it must show you a preview and wait for confirmation;
- the join with Seller Central: without inventory, Buy Box and total sales, ads analysis is only half the picture.
Connecting Amazon Ads to ChatGPT with Vendooly: the steps
Vendooly is an MCP connector that links ChatGPT and Claude to your seller account and your Amazon Ads account through official Amazon APIs. It offers 106 tools, 44 of them dedicated to Amazon Ads (Sponsored Products, Brands and Display).
- Sign up at vendooly.com/signup.html with email or Google.
- Connect Seller Central from Marketplaces: pick the region and authorize via OAuth. It is the foundation; ads connect on top of the seller account.
- Connect Amazon Ads with the dedicated button. It is a separate authorization on your Amazon Ads account. Guide: Connect Amazon Ads.
- In ChatGPT, open Settings → Connectors (or Apps, depending on the version), create a new connector and paste
https://mcp.vendooly.com/mcp. Depending on your ChatGPT plan, you may need to enable developer mode. - Authorize by signing in to Vendooly and choosing your organization, then enable the connector in the conversation.
ChatGPT renames its menus often. If something does not match, see connection troubleshooting and the connect ChatGPT to Amazon page.
How ChatGPT works on your campaigns
A sound workflow has three layers, and they are worth knowing whatever tool you use:
- Analytics: ChatGPT reads performance history (spend, clicks, sales, ACoS) and finds candidates, such as keywords that spend without selling.
- Verification: before touching anything, it re-reads current bids, budgets and campaign states, because history may be a day old.
- Action: it prepares the change, shows a before → after preview (keyword, campaign, current value, new value) and executes it only after your OK.
This is not an autopilot. The AI does the searching and the preparation; the decision stays with you. Vendooly is not its own AI: it is the action layer that gives ChatGPT access to Amazon.

What to do this week
- If you already use ChatGPT with exported reports, pick one analysis you repeat every week and run it through the connector instead. Time how long it takes.
- Start read-only. Ask for analysis and diagnosis for a few days before approving your first change.
- Keep a log of approved changes and review the results after two weeks.
The 14-day free trial includes the full Seller + Ads plan, and Vendooly stays free under €2,000 of Amazon revenue per 30 days. Sign up at vendooly.com/signup.html and find every guide in the wiki.
